It is so Good to See You!

Friday night, Luke's little family came to spend the night with us. It was so good to get to see them. They are such a sweet family. I cooked for everyone on Friday, and we just relaxed and visited.
I got to watch Amanda give Kate a bath. She loves the water!
The next morning, Kate discovered she could see her breathe on the window. Luke got to catch this Kodak moment.
Kate riding around on her daddy with the biggest grin.
Kate loves her some Colby. She would watch him the entire time he was out.
Other News:
Michael made it through the first week. When he got home, I ran and jumped on him to give him a hug, and he responded with "OOOOO I am so sore." I quickly apologized. He came home looking very handsome in his recruit attire. What can I say? A man in uniform....MY MAN in uniform:) I cooked a meatloaf (one of his favorites) for dinner. I slept better that night than I had all week, because he was home. Well, one week down and nine to go!
We took Colby to the vet today for his 9 weeks shots. He did well except for the constant whining. I have never heard him whine so much. EVER. He didn't cry this time when they gave him his shots. I was surprised. The doc said to come back for his 12 week shots, and he will be through. YEAH! We bought him a pet carrier, leash, and milk bones for treats. Yes, we are now starting the potty training process. He likes his carrier a lot. Sometimes he goes and just lays in it even when he is not tired.

Hello, Mommy Look What I did Today!

As you can see in the pictures above, our precious puppy destroyed the bathroom while I was at work today. He apparently is now tall enough to reach the toliet paper roll hanging on the wall. So, I quickly moved all of it to on top of the toliet. When I saw it all, I looked at Colby, and it was like he was saying, "Hello, Mommy look what I did today!" with his tail just a wagging. Good thing his is cute and love him, but I did not love cleaning that up. I will be getting a kennel this weekend.

You Should be Jealous

You should be jealous, because I have the sweetest mother-in-law! She takes such good care of me! Plus, I think she is super worried about me living by myself while Michael is away. Last night, I was wrapping my brain around sleeping my first night alone with Michael is away. Then, Karon calls and says she is coming by to check on me. I was like, "Yeah! Company!" Well, when she got here, I quickly realized that she was spending the night! She didn't want me to stay my first night alone. How sweet is that? Karon is a night nurse, so her hours are opposite of most people's. So, we visited for awhile, and then I went to bed. She stayed and read magazines on the couch ALL NIGHT. Then, it gets better! She tells me that she is fixing dinner tonight. Unfortunately, I had too much grad school work to complete, so I had to take a rain check. She got John, my father-in-law, and Corey, my baby brother-in-law to bring it to me at my house! Talk about delivery service! I had already eaten, so I am saving it for tomorrow!!! I LOVE MY M.I.L!

The Time Has Come

The time has come for Michael to go to the Police Academy. He left this morning about nine o'clock. His bags were all packed and ready. I had written his name on everything a black Sharpie marker could write on. I mean, I am talking about EVERYTHING....even his toothbrush! The academy lasts for ten weeks, so it will be spring by the time Michael graduates! I will be there with all my bells and whistles. I told Michael that I will be the one in the crowd shouting "Wooohooo!" because he told me that is what he was going to do when I graduated from MSU. He said to me, "Katie, I don't think you can do that." I responded by saying, "Well, you can tell everyone that it's your wife being escorted out for shouting during the ceremony." He laughed, because he knows how quiet and reserved I am during ceremonies. I would rather die than have to escorted out!
This weekend we tried to spend as much time together as we possibly could. When it would get quiet, one of us would look at the other one and say, "It's going to be okay." And it will. We just have never done anything like this before, since we've been married. God will carry us through. This is only temporary. I will ask everyone to pray for Michael. That he has strength and endurance. I will be praying for him constantly...without ceasing. My main concern is the cold weather. It is just sooo cold during January and February, so I will be sending warm thoughts his way!
So now what? What am I to do? The plan is to dive into my graduate school work and play with Colby. I am going to do my best to stay as busy as possible from Sunday evening to Thursday evening, when Michael comes home!
I love you and miss already Sweetheart! ( I know...it's a little pathetic. Right? but I do not care!)

I Don't Think I Could Do It

When I was younger, I thought I would grow up and be a housewife and raise lots of babies. Hahahahaha! (this is God laughing at me making plans) But truly this is what I thought I would want for my life. Well, I have come to the realization that I am just not housewife material! Call me crazy I know, and I might not always feel this way(maybe after we actually have a baby). But, for now this is my reality. I love my summers off, because I truly believe teachers need a break from the students, and the students need a break from us. On the other hand, summers make me go crazy sitting at home. So do long holidays. If I wasn't in graduate school, I would get another job for during the summer. This past week has reassured me in the fact that I do not think I could be a housewife. I am not saying that being a housewife is easy by any means, so do not misunderstand what I am saying. I just do not think being a housewife is for me.
So what happened was.... I went to work on a Tuesday morning, I thought everything was going to go normal. Well, on my way Michael told me that JPS schools were closed, because all the pipes busting in Jackson due to the cold weather. Well, Byram Middle School, where I work, is on the Jackson water system. So, I did not know what was waiting for me at work. I get there to find out there is NO RUNNING WATER. NO WATER FOUNTAINS OR TOILETS!!! Now, BMS has about 1,100 students. They get there, and we have to tell them they can't use the bathroom! We were suppose to dismiss at 10 which got bumped to 12. Well, the students got dismissed, but the teachers had to stay until 3:30. Fortunately, our wonderful principal, Mr. Campbell, let us leave for lunch and come back. School ended up being cancelled on Wednesday and Thursday. I did not enjoy not working. Every morning Michael would get up and go to work, and I would just sit in bed and think now what? I did get started on my grad school work, which was the only productive thing I did. I got to play with Colby, and he even had his first play date with Cooper, my friend, Kayla's dog. He did so good! Cooper is twice his size, but they still played really sweet together. I was so excited to go back to work today! Yeah for getting the pipes fixed! I told that story to say if I stayed at home all the time I would literally go crazy! I love working and my job!
This is the last weekend before Michael leaves, so I am going to spend as much time with him as I can. We were eating dinner tonight, and he said,"I only have one ground rule." I said, "Okay, what would that be?" Michael responded, "You can't cry when I leave." People, this is a pretty hefty request, but I agreed. Hopefully, I can keep it together until he leaves. Fortunately, I don't have work that day. Thank you Martin Luther King Jr.! I am curious to see how I do living at home by myself. I have never done this before. I am sure everything will be fine until about ten o'clock. For some reason, I am okay until 10 at night. At that time, I can all of sudden hear every sound the house is making. So, I hope I do not drive myself into insanity. Michael will home on the weekends, so I can do this! (maybe)

Two Years of Wedded Bliss

Today is our two year wedding anniversary! I love anniversaries, because they make me feel so accomplished! We have been so blessed in our marriage. I thank the Lord everyday for bringing Michael into my life. I know it has only been two years, but I can't remember what it was like when we weren't married. One hand I feel like we have been married forever, and on the other hand it feels like yesterday I walked down the aisle. I know...weird. We celebrated by going out to eat. The original plan was to eat at Red Lobster, because we were both in the mood for seafood. Well, as many know, Jackson does not have water! So, all the businesses were closed included Red Lobster. We decided to head to the Flowood area to search out a place. We found one: Up the Creek. They are also known for some good seafood. We had a great time just enjoying each other's company. We don't have much more time before Michael leaves! He is changing our locks right now as we speak, so a bad person can't break a window and undeadbolt the door! He also is going to teach me how to shoot the shot gun before he leaves. He wants to make sure I am extra safe while he is gone. What a sweetie! I can't wait to have forever more anniversaries with this man!
I don't know what we will have in store for us in our next year in marriage....only God (instead of time) can tell!

Doubled!

Our little Colby has doubled in size since we first got him! Don't get me wrong...he is still little. But, his face no longer has wrinkles, because his snout/nose is now long enough to fill his skin out. He also has so much more energy. All he wants to do is play, chew, play, and chew some more. Just look at that face!
Colby playing with his friends.
We got Colby his own bed! I am wanting to get it monogrammed, but I am not sure where to get that done. That will take some researching!

Just Little Tid-Bits

I really do not have much to blog about. Nothing major has happened lately. I finally finished the Twilight Saga. Actually, I have been finished since before Christmas, but I just hadn't gotten around to blogging about it. I will have to say that the third book, Eclipse, is my favorite due to the fact that I am team Jacob. Why team Jacob? It is probably the Indian blood in me, and I thought the wolves were really great. Honestly, I thought the fourth and last book, Breaking Dawn, was a little dragged out. I am not going to ruin the ending for anyone, but I wasn't really satisfied with it. But, then again, it is for teenagers. I guess it ended the only way it could have. And, I will continue to go and watch the movies:)
I started back to work. Things have been going smoothly so far. On the first day back the students were like, "Mrs. Case, you are really going to make us do work today?" Gotta love teenagers! My response was, "What else would we do?" Their response, "Sleep!." There is no sleeping in Pre-Algebra! But, I do appreciate there honesty. I have got to get these kids ready for the MCT2!!! It is GO TIME people! I thought we were going to have a couple of snow days this week, but we didn't. I was thankful, because I didn't want to make those days up!
My class is starting soon, January 12th. Our anniversary! My teacher posted some information already. Part of it said that this class was suppose to be one of the last classes we take! I panicked of course. Since, I have only taken three out of ten courses. I quickly emailed the professor about my concern. She said it was due to work load, but I could remain in the class. I am not scared of a work load! Besides, Michael is about to leave for ten weeks, so I am wanting a way to fill my time.
Speaking of my hubby! He is gathering all the items he needs to get ready for the police academy. He went yesterday to get his name on everything. We are in the count down now! I am not looking forward to him being gone, but I know this is a step forward for our family!
We have decided to join a church! I am super excited about this! I am looking forward to getting involved and making new friends! We are going to be filling out volunteer sheets this weekend. Hopefully, we can get it all done before Michael leaves.
I am sticking with my life resolution: "let go, and let God." Michael even said that he has noticed a difference in me! I will say...life has seemed to be easier. I feel one hundred pounds lighter not worrying and stressing about every little thing. Thank you Jesus! You are THE MAN!
Colby is still doing well. He has gotten use to us working all day. Most of the time he is asleep when we get home. We are now feeding him twice a day instead of three times a day. Still mush though, but his teeth are really coming in. He bites and chews everything! I even saw him trying to chew on my baker's rack, which is cast iron. He didn't get very far with that one. He is very entertaining to watch. I guess that is all for now!

Bringing in the New Year

Last night, Michael and I decided to spend New Year's Eve at home. We ordered out food and rented a movie, Away We Go. If you have not seen it, I recommend watching it. It is super cute. Michael and I enjoyed just getting to spend time together. It is not long until he goes to the police academy....about three weeks. I guess we are not a very exciting couple. Maybe next year we will go out on town. It doesn't really matter to me, as long as we together. I know....super cheesy, but I don't care. We talked about what we were looking forward to in 2010. Who knows what this next year has in store. Instead of making a New Year's resolution, I am going to make a Life Resolution. My Life Resolution: Let Go, and Let God. I know it is not going to be easy, but this is something I have needed to do for a long time. I hope everyone has an amazing 2010!
