My Husband is my HERO

In the last blog I wrote/vented about my computer dieing and losing all my documents. Well, my amazing husband/computer genius was able to get my documents of the computer onto my jump drive. How is did this? I have no idea. All I know is he is my hero for saving my graduate school work. The computer is still dead, but I don't care. I have learned my lesson: never save anything to your computer. All my information will be on a jump drive from now on. Okay, well I have to work on that graduate school stuff that I just mentioned. Thank you Hubby! Love you!

Computers HATE ME!

I know computers are not suppose to have brains, but I disagree. In fact, I believe that computers have a conspiracy against me. Yes, you read this right. I will tell you why. My Dell laptop has now crashed THREE times. When I say crashed, I mean like it won't turn on anymore. Lights out and information GONE!!! It only does this during very important times too. The first time was during my senior year at State. So, I almost every document I had created since freshman year. I say almost, because my GENIUS husband was able to snag my word documents and some how save them on a disk. The second time this happened was during my first semester of teaching my OWN classroom. It was extremely stressful, especially since I had started mid-year. It is a lot easier to start with the students in August. Anyways, I had decided to do reader's theatre on My Father's Dragon with the students. So, I had to type the script. I had typed the ENTIRE BOOK into a script then the computer crashed. ALL GONE! Michael was not able to save it this time. Needless to say, I had myself a good cry. NOW to TODAY. Once again, I am in school but taking graduate courses. I should have remembered my bad luck before and been saving my information on a jump drive, but I hadn't. Well today, my computer will once again NOT turn on. Michael is working on it right now, while I am on his computer typing this. I have ALL of my graduate work on there. There is a chance I could lose all of my hard work. I hope not. So, I am convinced computers have it out for me! I have to say a pencil and paper have NEVER crashed on me. UGGH TECHNOLOGY!

Retraction

It has been brought to my attention that I have made a big mistake that I need to fix. In my previous post about my family coming to town I said that we had to get back to the apartment, so Benny could watch Florida State. I need to retract this comment. Benny DOES NOT like Florida State at all. My mother informed me this is like saying my brother wants to watch an Ole Miss football game (my brother bleeds maroon and white). OOOPS! So...Benny, I am terribly sorry. Benny likes to watch THE Gators. I believe that is the University of Florida, but I am scared to say. I do not want to get it wrong twice. As you can tell, I am not the biggest football fan nor do I pretend to know much about it. I do like my MSU bulldogs! GO STATE! Okay, back to the point- BENNY IS A GATOR FAN! GO TEAM!

A Full Apartment

Friday:
The Case apartment was filled up this weekend! Momma, Benny, Luke, Amanda, and Kate all came to visit! I have been looking forward to this weekend for a long time. The only downer was Michael has had to work at the fair every night this weekend. In fact, that is where he is right now, and I am doing my best to stay up until he gets home safe and sound. That is the reason why I am not in bed and blogging at 11:30 at night. Anyways, back to the fabulous weekend. Of course you know I took lots of pictures of our precious niece. I didn't post all of them, but I did some of the them. I just thought her little coat was too cute, and me without make-up was not so cute...so I cropped myself out of the picture.
Kate with her Grammy.

Kate loves to stand...she will be walking before we know it. But she has to learn to crawl first....literally. She has learned to roll though.
You can tell who is the center of attention by this picture. It says it all!

Little Miss is teething, so she is chewing anything that will fit into her mouth and including things that don't fit.

Showing us where her feet are.

Us getting ready to go out on the town. We stopped at Renaissance mall and walked around for a bit. We hit up a few stores including Barnes and Noble of course. Then, onto Cock of the Walk, a family favorite.

All of the crew @ Cock of the walk

Kate loved her some turnip greens and mashed up french fries thanks to her daddy sitting next to her.

Saturday:
We took the family by to see our new house.

Then, we went to Bass Pro Shop. Benny thought he had a gift card in his wallet, but he couldn't find it. We still had fun walking around and looking at the aquarium.
We ate lunch at the restaurant inside the Bass Pro Shop and then heading home, so Benny could watch the Florida State football game.

The red velvet cake I made for Luke's and Benny's birthday. It wasn't the prettiest looking cake, but it was made with lots of love. Everyone said it tasted good, so I will have to trust them. Plus, I got to finally use my cake stand for the first time ever!
Kate is ready to blow out the candles too!

Happy Birthday Luke and Benny!
Luke - Oct. 5th
Benny - Oct. 19th
We will let their ages stay a secret!

Luke unwrapping his present

A MS STATE burger flipper! I was relieved he didn't already have one. Michael did a great job picking this out.
Sunday:
Luke, Amanda, and Kate woke up early to head home. Luke had to fix their well and study for law school. The rest of us headed to church. Momma got to see a lot of her old friends. I finally got to catch up and see Sadie, my old roomie at State! After church, we came home and ate lunch. Then, Momma and Benny flew home, Michael went back to the fair, and I took my midterm on the internet. It was a truly a fabulous weekend.

I will say that I cooked and cleaned up more this weekend than I ever have. I am not complaining, but I do feel accomplished. I baked a cake and pumpkin bread. Let me think of all the food I made. Friday lunch- chicken basil pesto pasta salad. Saturday breakfast-eggs, biscuits, and sausage, dinner- Mexican cornbread, black-eyed peas, green beans, and mashed potatoes Sunday breakfast-strawberry muffins, lunch-crock pot beef stew meal with Sister Shubert rolls and a Caesar salad. Write this event down, because I am not seeing a repeat anytime soon! (but I do love cooking) Michael and I have leftovers for a while!

We Found It!

After lots of house hunting and house internet searching we finally found our first home! We absolutely love it! I will give Michael complete credit for finding it on the internet. He spent every night browsing the internet to find us a home. My hubby did an excellent job:) We can't wait to move in it. It is in Florence,MS. It is about in the middle for Michael's and my job...so equal driving distance. The closing date is set for Monday, October 26th. After that, we will once again be packing up boxes, or I should say, I will be packing up boxes. If you have any extra boxes lying around, send them my way! This is the third time in our marriage (almost 2 years) that we have moved. We have got it down to a science. I do all the packing and labeling of boxes, and Michael is in charge of all the loading and unloading. Then it goes back to me to the unpacking. How I am going to manage moving, working, and being graduate school? I don't know....probably lots of coffee. I am halfway through Classroom Managment 611! Michael has already reminded me that he does know how to pack and unpack boxes if I need him to help. What a sweetie:) but I am too OCD for that. It is a relief to know that this is the last time I will be moving for a long time.
This is the front view of our home sweet home! We will have a real garage! No more scrapping ice off the windshiel in the winter and getting soaked in the rain!

The front yard landscaping.

This is the living room. We have stained concrete floors. That will be new for me.

Our fireplace that turns on by a switch!

The back spare bedroom. Will be used as the office.

The guest bathroom. Yes, it does have a toilet and shower, but I couldn't get a good picture angle. This is the best I could do.

This is the front spare bedroom. Will be used as a guest room.

linen closet

kitchen

I am totally thrilled with the stainless steel appliances!

I get to have a window over the sink! I know that sounds unimportant, but it is to me. I grew up with one. I always liked the idea of that.

The dining area for our new table and chairs that are still in the boxes.

The laundry room. Yes, a ROOM for laundry, not a closet or in the hallway!

master bathroom, I am not in love with the wallpaper..but it is growing on me...the picture doesn't do the wallpaper justice.

backyard/patio area that is going to get fenced

God is GREAT!

Twilight

Okay, so I have officially stayed up way past my bedtime to finish this book and to blog about it. I couldn't help it! It is absolutely fabulous. I also should have been studying for my midterm that is this weekend. OH WELL! I hate to write about the book, because it might spoil it for future readers. All I will say is that I definitely recommend it. My goal is to have New Moon read before the movie comes out. Everyone knows that books are better than movies!

Our Newest Infatuations and Fascinations

I will start with telling everyone that Michael's newest infatuation is TrueTV. He watches this channel constantly. If he has the remote, which is most of the time, our television will be on this channel. Every night this week, we, or more so, he has watched Forensic Files. This show is like CSI but real stories and real people, hence the true tv part. Not only does my hubby love to watch it, he also loves to talk to the television as he watches it. This way he gets to tell "them" (the people inside the television) his opinion on the matter. It is rather cute. The only time this habit is not so cute is on the rare occasion when I am watching a television show I really like, such as, Army Wives. He likes to talk during it too and gives his opinion. I politely shhhhh him, because I am the total opposite type of television watcher. Opposites attract right?? I like to watch my shows in silence, hear and watch everything, and soke it all it. I do enjoy spending time with the hubby though....tv talker or not. Back to the topic. The TrueTv channel has some crazy stuff and people on there. It is mainly police arresting people and solving crimes, which I am sure that is why Michael likes it so much, considering he works for Brandon Police Department. I would say this is a "Guy Channel."
Now moving onto a fascination Michael and I share. We both have fallen in love with HGTV. Since Michael and I have been house hunting, we love to watch the shows where people are house hunting and renovating to get ideas and learn from other's mistakes. This is a channel I could watch all day! Normally, I will come home and turn the television to it and have it as background noise while I am lesson planning or grading papers. They do lots of renovations, and I can take a quick break to look up and see the end result. I can't wait for us to have our own home!

My newest infatuation is the Twilight Saga Series...the books, not the movies (yet). I finally used my birthday money. Yes, I know my birthday was in August, but I have been busy...really busy. Anyways, I bought the first three in paperback, and I am waiting for the last one to be published in paperback. I am completely excited about starting to read the series. Luke, my brother, has already read all of them, and he told me they were good. I know I am late to be jumping on the band wagon, but I really don't have all the much free time to dive into books. I will say reading is my absolute favorite hobby. Weird, I know..I am a math teacher right? I fell in love with books a long time ago. I give this credit to my mother. She was always reading a book or three growing up. So, I have read other books with vampires as characters and found it really fascinating. Don't ask me why, because I don't know. When I get done reading each one, I will post my opinion. After I have read the books, then I will watch the movies. Books are always better than the movies...or I think so.
